This is a VQ that sounds amazing.

This is what happens when you build a race motor out of a VQ. Pure glory. Plus the hybrid system integrated in that is incredible. The fact that the Motec software can support that already is incredible.

I’ve been watching this car for almost 3 years now. From when it had a high compression 3.5L VQ. Sasha is mad scientist for engine tuning, it melts my brain watching him talk about the nerdy bits (especially going into the hybrid system). Seeing run was pretty cool too, the 4.2L VQ alone sounds like it wants to rip the group up from under it. Apparently Xtrac Sequential from a JGTC / Super GT  GT500 350Z too.

The Speed Academy videos cover it pretty well. I like how they let him nerd out in the videos. I appreciate it.

I also liked the electric conversion Evora that he did with the wheel paddle for how much regenerative braking you want. That was a super cool system

I’ve watched the Speed Academy a few times. I also know Dave & Pete a little, helped them for a part on a previous project.  Had a shop tour, they showed me then secret cars there where under a car cover swearing to not tell anyone.

Hell I’m pretty sure I’ve seen you in the background of a video. It’s kinda hard to miss a Juke at a track day

As an engine, based on pure specs, the VQ is great. But the only way I could live with one every day is if I were deaf. This one sounds great, but if I put the money it took to make that into a 2JZ, it’d have 2000 horsepower.

I had a stock 350z as my daily for almost 14 years. They just sound like “noise” from the inside. Certainly not pleasant, but not the obnoxious “vq-ness” that you’d expect. Again though, stock is key.

I test drove a facelifted 350 several years back. I remember the noise being tolerable, but when it comes to Japanese V6 sound I prefer my J37 even if it is a bit weaker.
